If you thought that it was the Japanese that were gung-ho about robots you’re on the wrong track. The Koreans seem more into the robot craze than anyone else and they’re starting early as more and more teaching aid robots are being implemented into their schools. The latest is KIST’s face robot FRi. Some of these robots are being used as language trainers for kids to learn how to speak English. They’re designed to quiz students in language, using techniques like fill in the blanks, correcting pronunciations and other such aids. Come Feb 2010, South Korea plans on releasing a whole lot of these ‘advanced’ teaching aids in the country. I always did think my teacher was a robot and I’m pretty sure at least one of them was.
